I’m thrilled to officially share news that I’m joining Aero as CEO, where I’ll be leading the team through its next phase of growth. After decades of working in aerospace tech — from launching an on-demand helicopter service at Voom to running special projects at Airbus — I’m excited to now build a next generation air carrier at Aero.
Aero has an ambitious mission. But, I believe we have the incredible team and network needed to make it happen. We want to bring in a new golden age in air travel, where flying is much more than just a way to get from A to B. Air travel is a magical thing, and the experience of flying should reflect that. We’ll be creating a way to travel by plane that’s actually enjoyable — where people can travel to up-and-coming destinations, fly nonstop between private airports, and skip crowded terminals — all for not much more than the cost of a first-class seat.
We’re building Aero within the Expa startup studio, and we’ve been supported by Garrett, Roberto, Vitor, and others throughout our ideation, branding, and design process. They’ve already been an invaluable support for our entire team, acting as a key resource for talent and offering their guidance as we grow. Alongside Expa, we’ll also be supported by key advisors and executives from Virgin America, Virgin Atlantic, and more.
Luanne Calvert has joined us to lend her marketing expertise. Luanne was previously CMO at Virgin America, and CMO and SVP of Global Marketing and Communications at Virgin Atlantic. Now, she’s bringing her incredible insights and know-how to what we’re building at Aero.
And, in a less common move in the air travel space, we’ve hired our first Chief Creative Officer — Sina Mossayeb. Sina will be helping us ensure that the Aero experience is beautiful, shareable and impactful. He was most recently at Expa, where he led projects across the studio’s companies, and was also previously Global Designs Systems Lead at IDEO. We’re excited to have Sina join the team and help us define Aero’s one-of-a-kind experience.
If you’re interested in hearing more about Aero, you can sign up to be the first to know about our new flights to La Paz and Telluride, launching in winter 2019. And keep an eye out for more news from us, as we build the next great way to travel!
